Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum seeking Shipwrights & Apprentices

FULL-TIME SHIPWRIGHTS & APPRENTICES

The Boat Shop at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, Maryland.Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is currently accepting applications for experienced Shipwrights and Shipwright Apprentices.

Requirements:
EXPERIENCED SHIPWRIGHTS:  Minimum 5 years’ experience in traditional wooden boat construction and/or restoration.

APPRENTICES:  Wooden boat school graduate or wooden boat with repair and/or building experience.

  • Proficiency in use and maintenance of wood shop machinery.
  • Basic rigging and metal fabrication skills a plus.
  • Must provide all necessary hand tools.
  • Good communication skills.  Ability to work on display, interpreting and interfacing with volunteers, apprentices and the general public.

Shipwright apprentices at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michaels, MarylandExcellent benefits.  Salary commensurate with experience.
