A new partnership between the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Lighthouse Society will offer regional workshops (1-2 days) to train individuals interested in becoming lens custodians or lens caretakers in accordance with a soon to be released Coast Guard policy on the Care and Maintenance of Fresnel Lenses. Workshops will be open to interested personnel from all museums and facilities that house and/or display a Fresnel lens.
Times and locations are currently in the planning stages with tentative arrangements being made for the following: Florida (east coast) – February/March ’27; New England (Newburyport, MA) – April/May ’27; Southern California (San Pedro) – June/July ’27 and the Great Lakes Area (Michigan) – Fall ’27. Final locations, dates, and registration information will be announced as soon as they are available. A nominal fee (TBD) will be required to attend a workshop.
