Two optional tours have been added to schedule of events for the 2017 CAMM Conference. Details can be found below, and the registration form has been updated to include optional tour registration. Tuesday, April 18 – tour of Point Reyes National Seashore with a focus on the 1870 Point Reyes Lighthouse and 1890 Lifeboat Station. Transportation will leave from the Argonaut Hotel at 8am for the approximately 1 hour trip to Point Reyes Headquarters and Visitor Center. From there it is a scenic one hour ride through historic dairy ranches to the Point Reyes Lighthouse and the nearby Lifeboat Station. Point Reyes and San Francisco Maritime staff will be on hand to talk about both structures and the recently restored motorized lifeboat. A box lunch will be provided. To get to the lighthouse itself, one must walk 0.6 km (0.4 mi) from the parking lot to the Visitor Center, and then down 308 steps. For more information about Point Reyes Maritime History see:
The bus will return to the hotel between 4 and 5 pm. Cost: $65.00

Saturday, April 22 – tour of the San Francisco Maritime NHP large artifact collection storage in San Leandro. The bulk of the park’s 100+ small craft collection, large maritime artifacts, engines, the Sloop Yacht Kathleen, and the recently recovered Gold Rush era lighter are highlights of this behind the scenes tour. Transportation will leave the Argonaut Hotel at 8 am and will return by Noon. Cost: $40.00.
