The Great Circle is a peer-reviewed journal published twice a year by the
Australian Association for Maritime History. The Great Circle publishes
articles (maximum length 8,000 words), research notes (3,000 words),
updates to earlier articles and book reviews (maximum length 1,000 words). It
has an established scholarly reputation both within Australia and overseas,
and is indexed and available on JSTOR.
We are seeking papers for a general edition, on any aspect of maritime
history, which will be of interest to broad audiences. Topics include maritime
archaeology and heritage, oceanic exploration and discovery, maritime trade
and commerce, oceanic migration and travel, military and defence. Articles
can explore sites and objects, events, organisations and people associated
with them. The submission date for manuscripts is 31 January2021, for
publication in the first biannual edition for 2021.
